Debuger shows what is in Memory, not what is saved or on screen.
And this rtItem it can be different from your current ( saved ) doc or visable UIDoc. This means its like a ghost. When you create a RTField by code, it is not in UIDocument and not on your disk. Save it and then load it to UI.
It is even so that when you do save the doc with your RTItem, and then you save your UIDoc. Your first savings ( Doc ) are overwritten. For this Stuff read the redbook at http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg246854.html?Open
